    2. Prepare for your consult

Discuss wishes and preferences with your family for how everyone wants to honour and say goodbye to your pet. Consider:
    - Location for the procedure
    - Aftercare preferences (i.e. cremation)
    - Who will be present for the consultation
    - What setting will make you and your pet most comfortable and at peace
    - Memories and stories you may want to share

    3. Arrival of the vet team

A veterinarian and a veterinary nurse will arrive at the time of your booking. We will meet your family and your pet before explaining our process to everyone present. We welcome any questions anyone has, and will help the whole family feel comfortable and supported.

    4. Payment, consent, and aftercare wishes

Before proceeding with the consultation, we ask that your invoice be paid in full. We will also ask you to sign a consent form for the euthanasia procedure. If you have decided on aftercare and keepsake options please let our team know at this time. If you are still deciding, that is fine, however we will need your consent to have Edenhills contact you to ensure your aftercare wishes are met once you come to a decision.

    6. The euthanasia procedure

Once everyone is comfortable and ready, our vet and nurse will start the euthanasia process. This usually begins with an injection of a sedative. You and your family can remain with your pet at all times.

    7. Take your time

Once your pet has passed and our vet has confirmed their heart has stopped, you and your family may want some final time with them. If not, that is perfectly fine. Once everyone is ready, our team will gently take your pet’s body out to our vehicle to be respectfully transported to the care of Edenhills.

If you choose to bury your pet at home, we have biodegradable burial bags available.

If you select private cremation with the return of ashes or any personal keepsake items, these will be delivered to your home as soon as they are ready.
